The Compliance Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring Dollarama’s food products meet and exceed quality and safety standards for customers.
Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain the seamless operation of the Dollarama Preventive Control Plan, adhering to Canadian requirements.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including buyers, legal department members, and vendors, to support new product pr
ocurement and regulatory evaluation.
• Investigate food quality and safety issues raised internally or by government agencies.
• Initiate and follow up on corrective actions as required, acting with speed and efficiency during investigations.
• Write investigation reports and provide corrective actions to CFIA as applicable.
• Participate in food product recalls or withdrawals.
• Evaluate certifications, audit reports, and product technical reports to conduct vendor risk assessments.
• Collect and review technical labels, packaging, product formulations, and claims documentation to ensure compliant labeling against regulations and guidelines.
• Collect and review technical certificates of analysis to ensure products comply with specifications and meet appropriate standards.
Requirements:
• University or CEGEP level diploma in food science and nutrition and/or chemistry.
• At least three (3) years of experience in food safety or quality assurance, gained within food retail or related manufacturing environments.
• Extensive knowledge of the Canadian Food & Drugs Act, the Safe food for Canadians act, and associated regulations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to research regulatory issues, and self-motivation.
• Bilingual (French and English).
