Spirit of Math Schools is exciting Canadian phenomena in education, offering students who are highly motivated and often gifted with challenging curriculum to expand their thinking and stretch their abilities beyond the normal curriculum.

Each teacher selected will only teach two grades (example Gr 3 & 4). Each grade is taught separately, and we don’t offer split grade classes.

Spirit of Math is seeking a person who is looking for a work place where teachers enjoy the challenge of teaching advance math, like to share their passion of working with students, and equally, have the desire to stretch themselves. This is not a tutoring position, but instead a teaching position for students who are consistently above average.

Educational Requirements: A graduate degree from a recognized university is necessary. Bachelor of Education preferred.

Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate you have an eagerness to learn the Spirit of Math method of teaching mathematics. You are constantly seeking ways to learn and improve your skills based on feedback provided. You will be challenged to help students discover the conceptual building blocks and relationships which undergird mathematics. You should be an expert with Microsoft Teams and have the ability to teach online, including use of Whiteboard/OneNote for online presentation and teaching.

The Teacher will be responsible for the following: a) Effectively managing the classroom to maintain a safe, orderly learning environment b) Adhering to the Spirit of Math teaching methodology and administrative system c) Delivering lessons to students d) Grading students assignments, tests and exams e) Building and maintaining relationships with parents f) Addressing issues with students’ performance and behavior g) Drafting report cards three times per year h) Managing assistant teachers as needed i) Maintaining an up-to-date and accurate records of grades and attendance j) Performing peer evaluations periodically k) Attending professional development sessions several times per year. l) Ability to respond back to student and parent inquires within 24 hours. m) Preparing weekly lesson plans in advance n) Passing grade specific test regularly.

Timings: Selected candidates have to be available to teach on Tuesday and/or Wednesday/Thursday from 4.00 pm to 9.00 pm and Saturdays from 8.00 am to 1.00 pm. Days subject to change in schedule. Only candidates meeting this requirement should apply.
