Position Summary

The Maintenance Assistant plays a key role in ensuring the upkeep and functionality of Serenity Place and all community homes under our care. This individual will work closely with the Maintenance Manager to perform a variety of tasks that ensure safe, clean, and aesthetically pleasing environments for residents and staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Day-to-Day Maintenance:
• Assist with routine repairs, maintenance tasks, and troubleshooting as directed by the Maintenance Manager.
• Respond to and resolve maintenance requests in a timely manner.
• Seasonal Responsibilities:
• Winter: Snow clearing from walkways, driveways, and other designated areas to ensure safety and accessibility.
• Summer: Watering trees, grass, and plants to maintain landscaping health and appearance.
• Landscaping:
• Perform grass cutting, trimming, and general landscaping tasks.
• Maintain flower beds and remove debris to enhance curb appeal.
• General Maintenance:
• Conduct basic plumbing, carpentry, and painting tasks as needed.
• Ensure tools, equipment, and supplies are properly maintained and stored.
• Property Care:
• Conduct routine inspections of all community homes and Serenity Place to identify potential maintenance issues.
• Report any safety hazards or significant repair needs to the Maintenance Manager.

Qualifications and Skills

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience:
• Prior experience in maintenance, landscaping, or a similar role is an asset.
• Basic knowledge of tools, equipment, and general repair techniques.
• Skills:
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• Physical stamina to perform manual labor tasks.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Attributes:
• Energetic and self-motivated.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently under supervision.

Working Conditions

• Work may involve exposure to varying weather conditions.
• Role requires physical effort, including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.
• Must be available to work weekends as part of the regular schedule.
