Aureus Solutions is seeking a Technician to conduct pre-scheduled and on-demand wastewater (outdoor, sanitary and storm collection system grab samples) for approximately 6 – 8 sampling events (visits) per year, depending on demand. Pre-scheduled sampling can be organized on your schedule but must be conducted during normal working hours (Mon-Thur). On-demand sampling can be scheduled with a significant amount of flexibility, according to the technician’s personal schedule.
This role is an ideal match for someone looking for a part-time 2nd job or someone who is semi-retired.
This role will be supported by our Water and Wastewater Operations Manager and the Project Coordinator.
Must be eligible for security clearance, including a valid police check. Ability to remove a manhole cover may be required.

Responsibilities
· Schedule (with Project Coordinator) and complete quarterly, semi-annual, and/or annual pre-scheduled water and wastewater sampling. Sampling effort will vary but may require between 6 – 8 sampling events (visits) annually.
· Schedule and complete on-demand sampling, as requested. Schedule will be flexible, and response time is not immediate and can be coordinated around technician’s schedule, within reason.
· Travel to site for sample collection. Travel times can vary depending on the sampling location. Government mileage rates or rental car can be provided.
· Conduct outdoor, domestic wastewater and stormwater sampling according to corporate procedures
· Identify and take corrective actions for sampling and sample handling challenges
· Communicate with facility staff in a polite and supportive manner
· Represent Aureus in a professional manner
Qualifications and Experience
• Experience with wastewater sampling techniques
• Wastewater provincial license would be an asset, but not required (non-municipally regulated water distribution system sampling)
• Ability to work with off-site supervision
• Ability to lift >30 lbs (sample coolers, manhole covers)
• Ability to work cooperatively with others and in a team environment
• Satisfactory Criminal Background Check.
• Valid driver license and reliable automobile

Pay: $30.00-$45.00 per hour
