• *Job Description**:
Key Responsibilities:
– **Operate cranes** to lift, move, and position materials safely and efficiently.
– **Train and mentor junior crane operators**, providing guidance on proper techniques, safety protocols, and best practices.
– Conduct **regular assessments** to evaluate apprentices’ progress and provide ongoing support.
– Review lifting plans and collaborate with site supervisors and riggers to ensure proper load rigging and positioning.
– Perform pre-operation inspections and basic maintenance on equipment.
– Conduct post-operation inspections and assist with routine maintenance checks.
– Maintain accurate logs of equipment operations and submit reports in compliance with industry standards.
– Adhere to all safety codes, regulations, and company policies.
– Communicate effectively with ground crews using hand signals or radio equipment.
– Maintain a clean work area and ensure cranes and lifting equipment are properly stored.
Qualifications:
– **Journeyman Certification** in crane operation, compliant with Alberta’s Apprenticeship and Industry Training requirements.
– **Extensive experience** operating cranes in a construction setting.
– **Previous experience mentoring or training apprentices** is required.
– Valid driver’s license.
– Strong understanding of **safety standards and load capacities** for cranes.
– Self-motivated and capable of working with mínimal supervision.
– Mechanically inclined with a proactive approach to equipment maintenance.
– Physically fit to meet the demands of crane operation, including lifting, climbing, and maneuvering.
Preferred Skills:
– Experience in **residential or commercial framing projects**.
– Additional expertise in **rigging or signaling**.
– Willingness to pursue further certifications in crane operations and safety protocols.
