Job Summary
The Student Success Centre within Student and Enrolment Services is currently seeking a Full-time Limited Term Special Projects Coordinator for approximately 6 months.
Reporting to the Coordinator, Academic Integrity Programs, the Special Projects Coordinator will liaise with Academic Development Specialists and Writing tutors within the Student Success Centre (SSC), to design and implement online learning modules and resources for distance learners at the University of Calgary.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
Online Learning Resource Development
• In collaboration with the Coordinator, Academic Integrity Programs and SSC staff, design, test, and implement online learning modules and resource materials on various high-demand topics related to writing instruction and learning support for distance learners
• Conduct needs assessment, literature reviews and environmental scans as required in order to understand needs of distance learners generally and at the University of Calgary
• Design and implement feedback practices to assess students’ uptake and response to all resources developed
• Develop and maintain a system for documenting and storing resource materials developed
• Utilize project management expertise to develop and track projects timelines through to completion
Teamwork and Collaboration
• Engage SSC colleagues in resource development by establishing collaborative, positive working relationships and feedback mechanisms
• Support SSC events and programming as needed
• Manage time effectively to accomplish tasks and meet deadlines
• Attend regular staff and reporting meetings
• Participate in cross-training to assist in other areas when needed and to meet Student Success Centre priorities
• Identify training needs and skill priorities
Qualifications / Requirements
• Master’s degree in education, with specialization in instructional design, eLearning, educational technology or related area is required
• 2-3 years of experience designing and developing eLearning projects in an educational or non-profit environment using Articulate Storyline is required
• 2-3 years of experience working with Learning Management Systems and learning software, such as Desire2Learn, Adobe Connect and Articulate is required
• Knowledge of instructional design principles as demonstrated through projects completed during previous work history
• Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to establish priorities, and manage multiple demands and meet deadlines
• Strong interpersonal and demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team
