Role Overview:

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a talented team developing scalable recommender systems, including GenAI/LLM powered solutions, integrated with Google Cloud’s Vertex AI. You’ll grow your team, collaborate cross-functionally, and drive impactful AI-powered personalization that enhances buyer experience and marketplace revenue.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor an agile engineering team aligned with eBay’s culture.

  • Foster career growth and collaboration across teams.

  • Build and deploy large-scale data pipelines handling billions of items and millions of users.

  • Develop AI/ML models for personalized live commerce and recommendations.

  • Work with researchers, product managers, and engineers globally.

  • Drive business goals such as marketplace Gross Merchandise Billings (GMB) and advertising revenue via recommendation systems.


Qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Science or related field with 8+ years relevant experience.

  • Proven experience leading agile engineering teams, preferably in ML/AI domains.

  • Expertise with cloud platforms (especially Google Cloud Platform), big data tools (Hadoop, Spark), and databases (key-value stores).

  • Strong software development skills in OO languages such as Scala or Java, with experience in high-traffic web applications.

  • Bonus: Experience building personalized recommender systems or other personalization technologies.
