Role Overview:
As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a talented team developing scalable recommender systems, including GenAI/LLM powered solutions, integrated with Google Cloud’s Vertex AI. You’ll grow your team, collaborate cross-functionally, and drive impactful AI-powered personalization that enhances buyer experience and marketplace revenue.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead and mentor an agile engineering team aligned with eBay’s culture.

Foster career growth and collaboration across teams.

Build and deploy large-scale data pipelines handling billions of items and millions of users.

Develop AI/ML models for personalized live commerce and recommendations.

Work with researchers, product managers, and engineers globally.

Drive business goals such as marketplace Gross Merchandise Billings (GMB) and advertising revenue via recommendation systems.
Qualifications:

BS in Computer Science or related field with 8+ years relevant experience.

Proven experience leading agile engineering teams, preferably in ML/AI domains.

Expertise with cloud platforms (especially Google Cloud Platform), big data tools (Hadoop, Spark), and databases (key-value stores).

Strong software development skills in OO languages such as Scala or Java, with experience in high-traffic web applications.

Bonus: Experience building personalized recommender systems or other personalization technologies.
