Our client is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join the team. We invite you to apply if you are passionate about setting up accounting systems, data entry, handling accounts reconciliation, managing payroll administration, and preparing financial statements. Please note that this position is required to work in the office downtown at the clients site, Monday to Friday, 5 hours per day for a total of 25 hours/week. The position is part time, temporary until November with a strong possibility for extension or to become permanent in the future.

The successful candidate will have a high level of care, demonstrated through careful attention to detail and a great sense of urgency to get things done correctly and quickly, right the first time, professionally. The successful candidate shall be dedicated to the excellence of the work they will be doing and is always punctual and ready to do the required tasks.

What does the opportunity look like?
• Financial Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and organized financial records, including income, expenses, and transactions.
• Budget Management: Assist in creating and managing the organization’s budget, ensuring expenditures align with budgetary limits.
• Accounts Payable and Receivable: Handle invoices, process payments, and track receivables. Ensure bills are paid on time and funds are collected promptly.
• Bank and Credit Card Reconciliation: Monthly reconciliation of bank and credit card statements to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies. Working with credit cad holders to process expenses by monthly timeline
• Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly financial reports for the organization’s board of members, including income statements and balance sheets.
• Payroll Processing: Using Payworks – manage employee payroll, including tax withholdings and benefit contributions.
• Tax Compliance: Ensure the organization complies with tax regulations and files necessary reports and returns.
• Grants and Funding: Assist in managing grants and casino funding received, ensuring that funds are used according to grant and casino funding terms and reporting requirements. Includes AGLC financial reporting.
• Utilize QuickBooks desktop and QuickBooks Online accounting software’s to manage financial data efficiently.
• Expense Tracking: Monitor and categorize expenses related to events, travel, equipment, and other activities.
• Communication: Collaborate with the organization’s management and board to provide financial updates and answer financial-related queries.

What are we looking for?
• 3-5 years of proven experience in Bookkeeping, cost accounting, financial analysis, data analysis, or related roles.
• High School Diploma with an Accounting Certificate and/or Diploma would be an asset.
• Payworks experience an asset.
• Related experience preferably in a non-profit arts environment.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices meticulous reconciliation experience
• Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
• Experience in payroll administration.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills
• Tax preparation experience is considered an asset.
• Auditing experience is considered an asset.
• Intermediate level of Microsoft Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Experience in QuickBooks desktop would be considered an asset.
• Comfortable creating, maintaining, and manipulating pivot tables in Excel.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 per week
